About Us — SYS Foundation
Our Story · Est. 2012

A bridge between now and the future.

Under-resourced schools deserve the same opportunities as any other. Support Your School was started in 2012 with a desire to support educational institutions and schools, and has grown into a foundation built to close South Africa's opportunity gap.

Our Story

Not every school gets the same chance.

The South African economic landscape has many peaks but just as many dark valleys. Unfortunately, this means that many learners at under-resourced schools do not get exposed to the quality education that could help to break generational cycles of poverty and lack, a gap South Africa's own Department of Basic Education continues to work to close.

Support Your School is founded
Support Your School is founded, seeing a way forward for schools through Coding and Robotics.
Early Years
A specialist equipment & training partner
Years of specialisation providing quality schools with world-renowned Coding and Robotics equipment, curriculum, and teacher training.
The Gap
Not every school could be resourced the same way
The growing team noticed that under-resourced schools were being left behind entirely, the same opportunity was not reaching them.
Today
The SYS Foundation exists to bridge that gap
Backed by 14 years of Support Your School's operational experience, the Foundation now brings that same opportunity to South Africa's most under-resourced schools.
What We Believe

Four bridges. One mission.

i
A bridge between now and the future.
ii
A bridge between despair and hope.
iii
A bridge between under-privileged and skills.
iv
A bridge between underfunded schools and companies.

Our Focus

Four focus areas. One bridge.

Our programmes are phased, teacher-driven, and built for scale, designed so that a single funded school becomes the blueprint for the next hundred.

Teacher Training

We come alongside passionate educators, providing expert, focused training to upskill them so the next generation can learn the skills to navigate the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Robotics Equipment

Tailored for children from 3 years old all the way to leaving high school, helping them move from concrete to abstract thought while growing in coding skills and social-emotional development.

📖

Teacher Resources

Curriculum that helps hold the hand of rural teachers as they grow in confidence. Mission guides give step-by-step, project-based tasks that build real-world problem solving.

AI

AI Training for Teachers

We help under-resourced teachers leverage AI to create lesson plans, presentations and more, growing their confidence as they walk their own AI pathways.

Theory of Change

From funding to future-ready learners.

A simple logic model for corporates and funders: what goes in, what we do with it, and what changes as a result.

01, Input

Funding + Kits + Training

Corporate CSI investment, Cubroid & mBot2 kits, and structured training modules.

02, Activities

Training & Sessions

ECD educator training, learner coding & robotics sessions, ongoing support and coaching.

03, Outputs

Centres, Teachers, Learners

Number of centres supported, teachers trained, and learners reached, tracked every cycle.

04, Outcomes

Lasting Capability

Improved school readiness, digital literacy, and a future STEM pipeline for South Africa.

Community Impact

Empower the future of education.

The work of the SYS Foundation is only possible because of collaboration, between caring individuals, private organisations, school communities, and public benefit partners supporting under-resourced schools. When we work together, we're not just providing resources, we're building a bridge that gives children real opportunities.
